tent iconThings to Do

Many thanks to Maria "MK" Kent for many of the local tips!

On the way up:

• Stop at The Black Birch or Anju Noodle Bar in Kittery for dinner, if you're likely to be too late to make Portland
• Stop in Portland for dinner at Fore Street or pretty much anywhere on Wharf Street, a stroll around town
and a stop at Bar of Chocolate or Arcadia for a drink and (at Arcadia) classic arcade games
• If you're into beer, take The Maine Brew Bus or head straight for the Allagash Brewing Company or Oxbow Beer
Portland Art Museum
• Shopping in Freeport (L.L. Bean and others)

In Bath, Brunswick and around:

• Visit Bath, especially Cafe Creme, Kennebec Tavern, The Cabin, Byrnes Irish Pub (karaoke on Fridays!), the Live Edge Lounge, the Maine Maritime Museum, Maine's First Ship and kitchen gadgets galore at Now You're Cooking
• Visit Brunswick, especially Bowdoin College (and its Art Museum), Frontier, Wild Oats, Tao Yuan, Bombay Mahal and antique shopping at Cabot Mill
• The Androscoggin Riverwalk, especially the fish ladder
Reid State Park (and beach!)
Popham Beach State Park, especially the Morse Mountain to Seawall Beach trail
Tandem Glass, hand-blown glass studio
Monkey C Monkey Do, obstacle course and laser tag
Sea Dog Brewing Co.
Five Islands
Red's Eats Lobster Shack (not overrated; be prepared for correspondingly long lines)

Thinking of heading on..?

Olson House
Acadia National Park (amazing, but check booking, or stay a little outside the park)
